Management Team
Scott Westby, CKD, JD, MBA
"We are very impressed with your company, Scott, and thank you for your part in making our remodel a success."-- Rob and Karen C., Danville
Scott works full-time managing the company and overseeing the construction operations in the field.
As he says in his own words, "My grandfathers were a plumber and a construction superintendent and my grandmother helped build Liberty ships (she was great with a cutting torch!) My dad is a builder/remodeler, and my brother also has a construction company back in North Dakota. I started helping Dad when I was old enough to pick up nails, and as soon as I was old enough to get a job, I worked for a production framing company and then went on to working for commercial building contractors, a residential remodeling contractor, a company specializing in building residential foundations, concrete walls, and flatwork, and then on to my own projects, until I started Main Street Kitchens."
Scott is a firm believer in continuing education and has taken numerous college courses in building inspection, various building codes courses, best practices in construction, construction management, and numerous design courses including, drafting, lighting, kitchen design courses, and bath design courses. Scott has sponsored design courses for computer drafting with 20/20 for designers and furniture quality touch-up work for trades people.
Emily McClure, BS in Interior Design - Designer, Office Guru/Contractor Sales
"Their customer service, they get back to you right away. When you call with a question, if they are not there, they will get back to you right away. I can't speak highly enough about them. I can't speak well enough about Emily and the owner. I have done a lot of construction, and their service is probably the best I've had. I think their prices are right on target too." - Michael A.
Emily joined Main Street Kitchens in June 2009 with a background in office and furniture design. She graduated from San Francisco State with a BS in Interior Design and is excited to be working within the world of kitchen and bath design.
Emily is the first contact for our clients. Her ability to listen and offer direct feedback is invaluable to all of us.
Kathy Brokaw, BA, CKD
"Kathy was inspirational as the designer." -- Bob and Teresa P., Martinez
With 23 years of design experience, Kathy draws on her 13 years as a high-end cabinet manufacturer's rep and her training as a Certified Kitchen Designer (CKD) to provide her clients with her insight and expertise.
An award-winning designer with Main Street, Kathy especially enjoys getting to know her clients, their needs, and creating a space that is individually tailored to them. She feels that the best designs result from collaboration between the homeowner and herself. With great consideration for functionality, available space, and design principles, Kathy's focus is in working with the clients to attain the beautiful kitchen of their dreams.
"Eric and I are so pleased with all the support we received from Kelly and Carol. They are an asset to your firm! Their insight and eye for detail has created not only a well-planned space, but one that has so much appeal." -- Lo Ann & Eric W., Walnut Creek
Carol started her own design and consulting business in the early 1980s, and co-owned an award-winning kitchen and bath showroom for over 20 years. Before coming to Main Street Kitchens in 2002, she was a designer for a high-end design/build firm in Silicon Valley. She has taught kitchen design at the community college level, written articles on design and color, and served as a judge for local and national design competitions. She also won more than a few design awards, but doesn't like to count them all.
"Working with the design team of Kelly and Carol was a pleasure and their experience was invaluable." -- Frank & Lorraine M., Pleasant Hill
Also a Certified Master Kitchen and Bath Designer, and a Certified Interior Designer, Kelly joined Main Street Kitchens in 2002. She's a second-generation designer (the name is a bit of a giveaway) with over 25 years of experience. She is also the author of the book, Kelly's Kitchen Sync: Insider Kitchen Design and Remodeling Tips from an award-winning kitchen expert, published this year.
She has served as a design judge for the Canadian and U.S. NKBA national competitions and regional competitions. She has also written articles for local and national magazines, and won awards for her kitchen and bath designs, including six NARI awards since arriving at Main Street Kitchens. (She counts everything.)
"The more remodeling stories I hear, the more I appreciate Curt's role in the process. I knew if there were any problems, and there were few, that Curt would make it right." -- Jan B., Martinez
Curt oversees the construction operations in the field, and is responsible for scheduling the crew and trades once the construction is underway. His calm demeanor makes organizing all aspects of a remodel look easy. It's not.
"We can't thank you enough for your efforts to make our little kitchen such a showpiece." - Mari & Barry T., Walnut Creek
Chuck has been installing flooring for 18 years, learning the trade from his grandfather. He prefers to install hardwood and stain-in-place flooring, but he will install any flooring he can be proud of.
"Jorge is a master at arches..." -- Lo Ann & Eric W., Walnut Creek
Jorge has been with Main Street Kitchens longer than any other employee. He directs construction, framing, stucco, and is our go-to person.
"Gary as the electrician...was such an artist and gave us such personal attention that it is obvious to all our 'tour takers.'" - Bob & Teresa P., Martinez
Gary is one of our sub-contractors, but has been with our company for so long that most of our clients assume he's an employee. He's a meticulous electrician and his work has been commended by building inspectors.
